Protect your Dog’s Joints: the Benefits of Dog Ramps vs. Dog Steps

Does watching your dog jump off the furniture make you cringe?

Small dogs are especially prone to joint pain and spinal injuries from frequent jumps onto and off the furniture.

These injuries can lead to expensive vet visits and even surgery.

But there’s a simple solution that can keep your dog happy and healthy: a dog ramp!

Dog ramps have gained increasing popularity over dog steps and dog stairs, and with good reason!

Our Dogini dog ramp customer reviews tell us that steps for dogs can be difficult to use, and they can put strain on their legs when climbing up.

At worst, dogs can injure themselves or fall going down dog steps.

A dog ramp offers a safe slope for your dog to independently walk up to their favourite spot on the couch or bed.

In the words of one of our Dogini customers:

“I know the ramp is going to help them with their joints as they get older and is much safer than the steps. The risk of them falling is almost zero now which gives me peace of mind.”

Top Tips for Choosing a Dog Ramp

Dogini has been making quality pet ramps since April 2021.

Back then, we were one of very few local South African manufacturers of dog ramps.

Nowadays, “every man and his dog” seems to be selling dog ramps!

There are two important things to consider when choosing your dog ramp:

Top Tip #1: Measure the height of your furniture

Many dog steps and dog ramps only reach a certain height, so it’s important to check that they will reach your furniture, especially beds.

Fortunately, we’ve designed our Dogini Couch Dog Ramp and Bed Dog Ramp to suit standard furniture heights, and they are both height adjustable!

The Dogini Bed Ramp reaches just over 70 cm, so it’s the perfect bed ramp for dogs to reach those high beds.

Top Tip #2: Check the length of the dog ramp

For a safe and comfortable climb, the incline of your pet ramp shouldn’t exceed 26 degrees. At Dogini, we’ve taken care of the math for you!

All our ramps are designed with the correct length for their height, ensuring the safest possible slope for your doggie.
